Erratic Tickover

My RT200 with Dellorto 30 and Franspeed has being running brilliantly for a few thousand miles with good tickover and no major flat spots. Yesterday I ran really low on fuel and had to stop at a BP which I normally avoid. Filled up with 97 octane and then after 2 miles I noticed my tickover was up at 3000 rpm. Now I can't get it to tickover properly. I set it up at 1400-1500 and it's fine for ten seconds then dies or I set it higher and after 10 seconds it starts going up to 3000. Surely this isn't because of BP fuel?

Possibly your carb needs a clean m8?

Drain the fuel try with tested fuel you trust, if problem persists look for air leak. Try all nuts fixings first. had the same last week, turned out loose manifold rubber where it bolts onto manifold. prob solved.

No,dirt will be drawn from the bottom of the tank wether its full or empty,makes no diffference.

more concentrated as the volume drops though?

Thought 95 was the correct petrol..

Cleaned the carb but tickover still drops after 10-15 seconds. Going to drain the BP97 and go back to decent stuff

I never use super unleaded 97 octane at any petrol station,there are so few people using it you have no idea how long its been sitting in the tanks at the petrol station.With the addatives in petrol especially ethanol ( which attracts water the longer its left ) I feel that its better to use 95 octane,most garages have a fast turnaround of 95 and it doesn't have chance to attract as much water.

Drained the BP and filled up with 95 octane she'll like I normally do. No different.
I know notice that the exhaust is blowing around the stub. Would this effect tickover?
