RT cylinder what are the advantages and disadvantages of fitting a reed valve.
Not a home job but one done by a professional.

For
1. Better fuel consumption
2. More power (If port timing changed to take advantage of the reed valve).
3. Reduced spitback
4. More flexible engine.
Against
1. Cost
2. May be more difficult to fit a filter.

Could you explain a bit more about your No 3
I think most modern two stroke engines are reed valved and the never give problems

If you want the advantages of a reed valve, why would you try to fit an aftermarket item, rather than change to a kit that was designed to incorporate one from the start? The biggest issue with a bolt-on reed manifold is the space that it takes up and the limited clearance to panelwork, whereas the reed designed kits tend to have it designed in to maximize clearance.
Does looking at this option suggest that you bought the wrong kit in the first place?
I'm raising questions, rather than giving my opinion as I too can see pros and cons for both.
