Does a NOVA registration have an expiry date?

Completed NOVA forms on line on the 13th May, got me MOT on Monday. I have heard a rumbour that the Nova number is only valid for 2 months, which will fall on this Monday. Is there any truth to this? I would of thought that once they have established that there is no vat owing, that would be that? Why would there be a need to re-nova?

A nova registration has no expiry date...
The nova registration process is basically a revenue collection exercise - or rather to determine if there is any vat duty applicable to your imported scooter or vehicle.
The reason it's become a part of the V55/5 application process is simply to ensure that 'Her Maj' isn't missing out on any potential revenue collection... and so the most effective way for hmrc to do that was to make it a compulsory part of the dvla application process - i.e; your dvla application can't be processed without proof of nova registration.
