Are silicone carb mounting hoses more durable than the usual rubber ones, silicone doesn't seem quite so rigid so I would presume less likely to split due to vibration.
Does anyone here use silicone hose, what's the verdict? If it's better where can I buy one and how much are they?

I tried them but after a few months they seemed to swell and lose shape and I was not confident that I was getting an airtight seal.

I used this stuff for a while (make sure you get the fuel type not water!) can get about 4 rubber mounts out of a length this size http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330578232697? ... EBIDX%3AIT Delly 30 .Used for about 3-4 years, saying that this year I bought a malossi rubber mount for the first time & its been spot on, but still got a silicon mount in my toolbox as back up.

Yes mine are spares. I think having no lip made me tighten it further and then they started to slowly slip off.

I've had a rubber hose split recently, possibly my fault as the clips I used were a fraction smaller than the standard ones. Prefer the rubber to the car hose....any other tips out there...?

I used a top hose of a 109 landrover that I found in a pile of bits at work, it was reinforced with what
looked like thick cotton I dont have anymore details only that it was used and we had stopped using the 109 in 1990 so god knows how old it was when I used it 5 years ago !!!
