i have just rebuilt as a rally bike an old Indian frame thats been in my garage since the mid 90's. its an iron barrel bitsa from garage shelf parts. this frame is numbered 22/2*22*2265?? in the crappy chisel happy indian fashion. i therefore deduce it as a SIL UK market GP??. BUT i cant find the logbook or reg plate anywhere now i look, i have had 50 or more Lammies since and its just been an orniment for years, can't even find a photo of the scoot from the early 90's with the bloody reg number on, i may have even used the logbook on something else, as happened when Indian GP's were a couple of hundred quid.

Right, ive looked for the number and it says 22 is the code for LUCKNOW??? in India?. but its a 22/2 frame?. the logbook would have been pre-computer, what is my frame and how do i register it again or get the plate?. im confused dot com, its not an import i dont think but its now built and running with a Italian Engine i had spare.shoulda thought of this earlier!!

Of course it's an import, it has come from India!! You are correct, it is an Indian GP200 built for the Indian market in Lucknow. You will have to start the process again to register it.which mean Nova, Dating Letter etc. Just tell the truth that it has been in the shed for 20 years for your Nova. Get a dating letter from L.C.G.B. or BLA and off you go.

so its found its way here in the 90's for some reason. well ive been a member of the LCGB for more than 25 years so nows my time to get summat back! any idea how to find out what year it might be....im thinking of the dreaded indicators sceanario or the Vigay super logbook heading. im fairly sure it would have had a Lambretta 200cc logbook originally but the mists of time are thick like me.

It's hard to say on the date as GP 200 No's were used twice but looks like it might be 1984.

i'll take that all day missus! if its a 1984 ish then i that sounds about right. i think it was a Rayspeed bike in black and silver metal flake with a blue metal flake snett before i got it, possibly with AF sign writing but i cant remember, except it was one of a pair, the other gold, brown and silver flake. it lived in Lowesstoft for a bit and was quite flashy at the time.it got tatty and ended up as a 200 quid rally munter , i painted it army green with US stars and added all Italian parts but ive still got the horncast S badge.
