Ok ....
So I've now found out that I've got a 150 Top End?, on my LI 125.
Now the boys I run/ride with all have much Quicker Scoots and I'm now wondering which Kit I should go For?
Pros and Cons on any reliable kits please,
Regards

For lazy people like me , Nicasil lined kits with shorter running in periods (allegedly?) are good.
RT ( now I've sorted it) nice to ride good for near 70mph. Mugello nice kit , new Imola sounds really good and then you have the new SS200 from Casa which I know nothing about.
The Iron barrel GT is a very good kit but needs running in properly, whatever that is
Comes down the preference and budget, oh and building it properly.

It not just a kit though is it.
You can price up a kit.
But you need to consider the state of your engine. If you dont have the following
New uprated bearings, stronger gp crank, electronic kit, new chain, clutch uprated cylinders will cause engine failure.
What carb and exhaust will you use? What do you want from it. All out speed or touring.
You might also want a disc brake and bigger petrol tank.

What do the others you ride with have?
Personally i have an RT225, I was close to getting a GT kit too but that came to a toss up between an ali lined or cast.
The Imola is more a race type kit isnt it? Fun for short blasts but not great around town?

Think purple is right, find out what the other guys are riding then go from there, ie if they are all on rb or ts1's imolas, you don't want to be on a 175, but if they are all standard 200 or even small block mugellos then you can get away with a well set up 175 through to a mugello or gt186

If youre going for a full engine strip/rebuild then how about sending your casing off to Oiltek in Barnsley to convert to large block stud sizing (around £200 iirc) and get an standard sil 200 kit for the cost of top small block kit.

Increase the power and revs without changing anything else and it wont last long. An original 125 is what, 9HP at a few thousand RPM? The innards would have been designed to cope with that plus a little bit extra. It doesn't take much effort to nearly double that and that's when everything else starts to go pop.

The imola can be a nice ridable town kit whilst still keeping its zippy fun side. I uprated mine with a 60/110 crank and used base and head packers to adjust the port timings. It now pulls 4th easily from 25-30mph but still flys when you wind it up and im not the most aero dynamic at 17 + stone.
