Ive had a quick search most topics are about getting a bike registered
Mine is a italian bike , imported in 1968 , Li 125 series 2 ,and already has a Uk number plate on a G suffix , the V5 is in my name .
Ive sent off a dating certificate from the british lambretta archive along with the V5 ,and a another V something or other form which show the chassis number is a 1961 produced italian bike
The paperwork was lost for 3 1/2 weeks, and was found and took a further 4 weeks to finally find out today they want more info before they will issue a 1961 number plate.
Ive not had the letter back but was told over the phone they want the original import documents , or more information from the manufactures or if anyone has a copy of the Glass s check book relating to Lambretta for the year I need and could scan it for me
Anyone else had the same trouble or know who I should contact for more information ?

i rung the dvla this morning regarding a similar issue ( changing the tax class from bicycle to historic ) and they said all i need to send is the v5c v10 form dating certificate and mot certificate no mention of any glass's check book ?

sounds like DVLA cocked up when it was originally imported/ registered in 1968.

A "G" plate relates to August 1968 to July 1969. A 1961 bike should have 3 letters and 3 numbers if reregistered.

Having said that I once had a 1961 Genuine Lambretta S2 reregistered on a 1963 "A" plate so they may have had different rules years ago.
