T5 or P2

I'm looking to pick up another motor for the pig, I have a choice of a couple of T5 motors complete but needing overhauls or a couple of P2 motors short cranks but with a Malossi kit in the deal.
I need it to pull and more importantly be reliable, unlike the one I've had in.
My head says build a P2 motor with the kit simply because of the more standard parts availability. T5 seems to me the riskier investment, less options and more non standard parts.
What way would you go and why?

I prefer the T5 personally but it won't suit all. I also cannot stand the way the Malossi 210 makes it's power. Polini has a far better delivary and keeps things fairly low revving so should be a far better long term prospect if you definatley want a kitted 200.

Yes agree the maloosi

kit is rank and makes all the power at top revs , you could fit a 60mm and choice of packer plates to tame the delivery and more torque. But bang for bucks the polini I've found to tick all the boxes and very reliable

Will depend on what price is offered, was thinking it might suit a 60, but I'm no wasp a expert.

It's what's available though it may be an option to get a standard barrel, though I believe the casings may be ported already, but I don't see that as an issue ?

can't comment on the T5 as I've never owned one... but I do have a few scooters with P2 engines & in various guises - standard, malossi &. Polini - and I'd say it really all depends on what you want from the motor at the end of the day... I like the malossi kits & the way they deliver their power - but as an all round do it all motor - you'll not go wrong with a long stroke of Polini kitted P2....
