Missing rear brake cable cover?

Quickie for you knowledgeable folks: on a Series 2 LI, should there be something covering the rear brake cable inner between where the outer ends at the top hat and where it clamps to the pedal?

I can't see it on any parts diagrams, but it seems very exposed.

Yes there is a rubber gaitor for the exposed part of the cable.

Aha, that makes sense. For some reason I thought that the long gaiter was for the back end of the rear brake cable (by the hub).

Page 231 of "sticky's"manual (the orange version)theres a picture in the top right hand side that shows the rubber gator on the cable.
