I think this depends on what he desires from the set up? also depends greatly on what exhaust he plans to use.
I would think a phbh 28 will work well, nice modern (ish) carb for dialing in jetting well, plenty of spares etc. also depends which li 125 box, but i run a late s3 125 box in mine with a 17t front sprocket, which puts the gearing in a great ballpark for any smallblock kit. not noticed any drastic jumps between gears etc. so yeah. saves you a ton anyhow for what i imagine would be a rather marginal gain.

Thanks Olliewtf.........he has an LI Series 4 believe it or not....so late 125 gearbox I guess and proposes to retain the K&B clubman type exhaust (I'm told these are exactly same spec as the AF Clubman).....

wow li s4. thats pretty cool!
suppose it depends on whether he wants to keep standard look too ie through airbox.
tbh anything up to 30mm will run well, maybe he'd be better off with something smaller if running a clubman.
suppose it then just comes down to what is available at what price.
I wonder if the li s4 has the same gearbox as late s3? stickys might mention that. either way i cant forsee any poblems with keeping the box and just upgrading the sprockets.

think he might go 28mm or 30mm and see how it plays out
I run mine with a 25 mm PHBL dellorto and just changed from an ancilloti which ran fine to a bgm clubman (ancilloti didn't fit right , bracket snapping etc muggy problem) .....and it doesn't seem to rev out now. It is fine up to 65 and then it just hits a wall feels like it is dragging, running with a 105 main jet although I might up this a bit and see if it performs better. If not I am going to try a 28 mm dellorto and see how that goes but I was told there is a problem with the BGM clubman exhaust revving out , anyone had this problem

My mate went to JB Tuning and they recommended a 30mm Delorto be used for the 185 Mugello using a 125 main jet and 50 pilot jet with an under the panel foam air filter (held on by the panels and looks like one side of a ladies bra,,,sort of 'boob' shaped.....weird ??).
Anyway we got it on and the bike started badly and run like a pig until we took the filter off, then different story , it flew ........It might just need down jetting to compensate, maybe 118 main jet, but the rubber mounting onto the inlet manifold seems to push it too close to the panel, so think he will need an MB shorter rubber for the manifold to pull it back a bit and maybe go for a 'breathe easy filter

Mate's carb needs jetting in to get her to run better. Does anyone know the jetting if the carb I left open mouthed under the sidepanel for the 30mm Delorto on a 185 Mugello..........

what needle atomiser slide etc? i wouldve thought av266 with x7, 50 pilot and 125 main would be ballpark. BALLPARK. let me say it again, ballpark.
as ever, buy a few mains and pilots and start rich. atomiser and needle combo can be a bit trickier to get right, but plenty plug chops and careful running to fine tune.
best of luck!
