After motorway riding, drop the throttle off for any relevant reason, traffic jam, coming off at a junction & the revs don't drop to tickover as they normally should when I slow down. When I'm at a standstill they finally get to tickover nicely, just takes a few seconds.

Any ideas?

Are you running through air box? Spit back in the bellows.

What you describe is a classic symptom of either an air leak or lean jetting. Be careful as, unless you sort it out, you could be heading for a seizure

Hello

Does sound like too much air.
I had those symptoms for a while and sorted it by changing the slide (on a 28mm PHBH) for one with a smaller cut-out that I had kicking about.
Might be worth fiddling with your carb after checking for obvious air leaks but before checking for subtle air leaks.

cheers

A leak test kit from Darrell Taylor is a cheaper option than a new piston and re-bore, not to mention the possibility that a seizure can easily throw you down the road.
