Are the two main headset screws on a series two longer than a series 3?

Either that or shorter - the two are different.

Yes, Series 2 are slightly longer. If S3 screws are used on an S2 headset they will only screw into the first thread or two in the headset top.

Thats good news as the threads on mine are worn and one side wont bite with series 3 screws.
