SIP Speedo - Li S3 AC set up. Help!

ImageImageIt's either not working or cutting all power depending on what I do. Red is meant meant to take power from a non switched source (green??) black should be earthed (easy) and brown goes to the 'light flux wire, eg speedo light' - yellow?? But nothing's working. The actual speedo unit hasn't been fried as it fires up if I connect a 9v battery to it.

Anyone running this set up successfully?

I know nothing about the SIP speedo or it's wiring requirements.
Are you running a 12V AC conversion?
Do not connect anything to the green wire, it is the LT ignition source from the stator.

Thanks. Sorry, I'm terrible with electrics. Yep, that's what I had it connected to as my power source.

It is a 12V AC conversion - I think the loom was Casa but it is exactly per the diagram I posted. Based on that, what would a 'safe' power source be?

Presuming you have a non battery scooter, 12v system, just connect the red and brown from the SIP speedo to the brown from the loom (which should be your 12v ac when the engine is running). On no account connect anything from the Speedo to the green in the loom. As previously mentioned you need a restor type plug or a suppressed HT lead. Just remember if you don't have a battery and your tickover is a bit slow, the speedo may cut out if your 12v drops too low. No need to worry as as soon as you rev up again it will come back on.

Using educated guesswork! Fix the speedo 'earth' wire to the earth point within the headset. In a 12V conversion the brown is permanently live (when the engine is running)
The SIP should be illuminated by the normal speedo connection, Black. This wire is live any time the lights are on. Sidelight or headlight.

Mine is wired to a DC source but you need to connect the red SIP wire to the power wire from the main loom usually brown

Thanks all! I forgot about the resistor plug, too. Will try again tomorrow.

I run mine off the open black wire port that was used to power the old speedo.

This way key position 1 allows you to get the bike running with out the speedo.
Pos 2-3 speedo is on.

The main reason for this is to keep the speedo from resetting if the bikes doesn't fire on the first kick.
