On getting my mates px engine VBB ready for MOT, it had a clutch problem, if I adjust it too much, it jumps and stalls, if I back it off, it's like riding with no clutch! I've taken a look at the clutch and all seems in order. Anyone got any pointers where to look next?

What do you mean by jumps and stalls? Too tight and it will slip on kickstart, too loose and it will drag and stall. Just done a Cosa type repair today that needed the turrets deepening to allow the plates to seperate more and a special shim fitted on top of the oil drive cog to stop the clutch drive binding.

OK, when activating the clutch, it was clunking into gear and felt as if it needed adjusting by bringing the clutch arm up, by the adjuster nut. It then would stall when engaging 1st gear. It was difficult to get the gear change back into neutral, without killing the engine. No matter where I adjusted it, it did one or the other.

It was dragging then, meaning not enough clearance. Have you tried moving the cable trunnion up the cable whilst pushing the clutch arm until it meets resistance,

Mine was the same tried adjusting forever couldn't get it right.
Turned out to be a frayed cable.

Yep cable could be fraying which means it stretches rather than pulling. Have you got a top hat on thr outer at the headset end?
