6 Volt stop and tail bulb blowing

GP 125, AF 175 kit on with a big bore. Running on points which are great and the regular 6V system. It goes great but blows the back bulb, they just get so bright with the revs. I put on a lucas diode onto the stop lamp which stops that filament blowing but the back light pops. Any ideas? 12 volt is too dim and drains power from the front lamp.

AC or DC? If AC I'd personally plumb in a 12 volt regulator and change all my bulbs to 12 volt as well, works well

I've just put in a 12v regulator etc for the very same reason and it seems to work well, also fitted a 12v DC horn

That's interesting. I take the 6V bulds still worked?

you need to change the bulbs to 12v.

Typically bulb blowing is caused by poor grounding.
Tail/brake light to frame
headlight through headlight ring
Speedo lamp (12v) through speedo cable
motor to frame to coil
I like to add a ground cable from the speedo bulb holder to the handlebars and the headlight (white opposite of the yellow). I've also found that once one lamp goes the others will soon follow due to it being a balanced system.

all bulbs changed to 12V and a slight mod to get a dc feed for the horn which was originally a 6v AC ,(sounded like a 'strangled duck' )
