I bought one off Beedspeed a few weeks back, bang, straight on, no messing about.

Told my mate where I got mine from, he ordered one n' all. We took two & a half hours trimming the f'ker to fit this morning. There's f'k all left of it. Image

Got one for my series 3 just the same by the time I got it to fit lost half the storage space. I bought one from Taffspeed at Wicksteed for the series 2 and it went straight on.

Could the problem be with the legshields not the toolbox?
I had a similar problem with the toolbox I bought, needed lots of trimming to fit, infact so much so that I thought maybe I had the GP version instead of the series 3 version. However before I started hacking into it I thought I'd check it out on my brother in law's unmolested SX200, surprise surprise, it fitted quite well!

Probably was legshields. I imagine the toolboxes are all made as a standard pressing

They may well be but not all by the manufacturer. So one manufacturer's may fit and the other's don't.

i bought a fibreglass nanucci style one for my jet - and by the time it fitted (and still not perfect there was nowt left other than a big pile of dust.

bought a metal rally style one from ScootRS for my GP - perfect on brand new SR SIL legshields (never even dry fitted it straight to painters)

bought a metal rally style one from Just Lambretta for S2 - 1/2hrs work and great fit on a second hand pr of API legshields

Going to get a metal rally style for the jet as part of rebuild so we`ll see.

I think legshield shape/profile does play a part

Mine also fitted where it touched which wasn't in many places so what I did instead of cutting it smaller was to build up where it was missing. Just laid one layer of fibreglass inside around the gaps and trimmed this so box sat against leggies. Sprayed leggies with silicon, screwed toolbox on then carefully filled the gaps with body filler to get perfect fit. Rubbed down and painted.
Bit of a mess on I know but gets a great fit.
The fibreglass was to give the filler something to bond to otherwise it will be weak.

I have one of those not yet fitted it but when I offer it up in the position where it looks right (about 3-4" down from the top) it is a terrible fit. Move it down a couple of inches and it is a near perfect fit but looks too low :?

Coaster interesting comment ...

When I fitted mine to the GP and S2 i fitted them where they fit best - To which i`m happy with both but the other day i saw one on a S2 ( a F/G one) and it looked to low for my liking.

Have a feeling the Jet/SX will be a swine .......
