Whats the best method of taking off layers of paint to uncover the original colour. Have bought a gp painted green but when taking off horncasting what appears to be the original red underneath.

You could try acetone. That ought to shift it. I've used it myself and it does work. But you're going to need a lot of elbow grease.

Are you trying to salvage the original paint, or just identify what it was ?

Will start and see how it looks. Hopefully back to original. Rough and ready.

How do you apply the acetone and how long do you leave it.

My mate does it. Thin the paint with a sand paper and then put the acetone on the surface and wait until the paint starts to fade out.

Then remove the paint carefully with a towel.

I hope I helped you.
