seems good quality, same make as used in many jap bike engine rebuilds
now fitted to my 60mm crank using the supplied bearing & pin, but without the shims

why didn't you use the shims - how wide was the pin?

thanks. yours ain't too shabby either, well it is, but that's part of its charm.

I took the rod and the crank to Chris Sadd, using the shims would've widened the distance between the outer web faces, making side clearance a potential issue. Chris said that it didn't need the shims, which is good enough for me. there's very little float there so I won't use any in the piston end either. but I will need to cut a groove in the casing for the big end, which is thicker than the standard rod's and as my crank is 60mm.
