Exhaust for Li 150 with 186 Mugello kit

Recently bought a 1962 Li 150 with a 186 Mugello upgrade. It has a PM Tuning pipe fitted. Type with a small silencer end can. Whoever fitted it had to cut a piece out of the bottom of the right hand side panel so that it fit. They've done a decent job. However I would like to fit a pipe that is more like the original style without the end can. Obviously I will have to replace the panel too. Can anyone suggest a quality pipe, preferrably stainless steel that wil be OK with the Mugello. Will it need any tuning or adjustment mechanically. Not sure if it is relevant but it also has a 30mm delorto carb.

If I go for the MB Clubman exhaust is it just a matter of removal of the one thats fitted and replacing with the new and away we go or will further teewking be needed? As you can probably tell I'm not mechanically inclined.

As with any exchange of exhaust you need to che k your plug colour or get it dyno checked , as for not using stainless ive used alot of stainless pipes 2 stroke and 4 NEVER had one crack same cant be said for mild steel in my case .

also, the Clubman should be supplied with a matching down pipe - you will obviously need to remove the existing one and replace it with the new one.

You could also go for a "curly" exhaust, that's an expansion chamber exhaust but the end can feeds back and out of sight under the rear footboard. Gives standard.....ish looks but improved performance over the clubmans. JL3 curly springs to mind. Exhausts need to be matched to the engine gearing so it's a good idea to find out what gearing the engine has.

Hi

Agree with going for the MB clubman I think it would suit the mugello well. I've got one on a GT 186 kit really good with a 30mm dellorto.Check the colour of plug or as stated have it dynoed.

Is there anyone that can help you do it? It's not difficult but there's more to it than removing a few nuts...Where abouts are you?

Just seen Coventry...
