Problem with the pig

Pig stopped running last week, suddenly.

Engine would turn backwards some but not forwards. A quick look in the top end didn't reveal much. We suspected a stator screw had come loose. Unfortunately no such luck. After removing the exhaust and lifting the barrel a bit we could see swarf in the piton bosses. The Malossi barrel won't seem to come out with the engine in so set about dropping it.

On removing the barrel a chunk of seal shook out of that casing. Splitting it now unavoidable.

Got the crank out to find this

Supposedly a genuine seal too.

Spring has taken a good run round the top end -

Anyone think this piston is salvageable?

Personally I'd junk it, suppose you could clean it up a bit if you wanted but pistonkits aren't overly expensive although I've not looked at Malossi stuff in quite a while. Is the bore itself alright?

Bore's not bad, no bad scores to speak of.

Piston kits are 75 - 99 £ unless there's another option, might be woth looking at it in €...

you could clean it up and put new rings on , ive seen far worse running. that's a heat sieze on the exhaust port side, nowt to do with the seal spring. locktite and dot punch your new seal in.

No, that's the recess to access the circlip, you can see it both sides, just not a pretty casting I suspect
