VNB front suspension problem

Having just restored my VNB, with a px engine, the front had been converted to 10" wheel by previous owner. Before strip down I realised if braking sharply the wheel would touch the inside od the mudguard, I thought buying a 30% extra strong spring would do the trick, alas it has not. Now I've asked a few people how to resolve this with no luck. Has it still got the 8" forks with the 10" hub? Are 10" forks longer than 8" forks? What's the solution, other than breaking, it rides lovely, but it's too dangerous to leave as is. Cheers

Hi.take a look in vespa tech.. look for vbb front brake cable routing and you'll see a modified vbb front end.

I would assume the forks are 10" and not the 8" that you think they are. VNB has a completely different hub, it has the 4 studs in the middle of the hub.

It has a 10" hub, but has it been put onto 8" forks?

Thanks for both your replies. Reading the links you have posted, I'm beginning to realise there may not be an easy fix. Bajaj forks would need cutting and rethreading at the top, so the bottom bearings sit properly, then may have an issue fitting the mudguard. I was told by the chap I bought it of it had GL forks. So, would one of these help prevent hitting the mudguard?

The BGM shock will help, but not sure how much. If you were to cut the forks, you wouldn't cut the top of, you would cut in the middle, weld a connection piece then weld together.

maybe a 300 by 10 tyre would be small enough to allow clearance?

Would the mudguard fit onto the Bajaj forks?

SIP sell longer springs so you need to measure what you have fitted.

The springs from SIP are upto 190mm & 25% stiffer, Ive tried fitting them and gave up. Put the standard 190mm spring with BGM shock, but thats on a GS front end. I don't know anything about the Bajaj front end. I think the problem may be with the mudguard. Have you thought about putting a spacer on the fork mount before you put the mudguard on, the only problem with this will be the two bolts on the side of the mudguard will not line up.
