So, all set for the first rally of the year. Stripped down since November, slowly getting it all back together with new seals & bearings. A week before Sandford & I'm ready to roll. Have a couple of practice runs to work down the M27 & all is as it should be & I'm pretty f'kin pleased actually. Come friday, mate meets me at work, we get some scran down our necks & off we go! Ten minutes onto the M27 & soppy b@11@x realises I've left my bloody phone at work so I'm frantically waving at my mate who's ten seconds behind me to PULL OVER!! He does pull over, about 200 yards past the only crossing on the dual carriageway we've got on, at Stoney cross. I explain what a numpty I am for forgetting my phone & what a numpty he is for not knowing that someone waving their arm to the left like a one winged albatross having a spasm means. So now it's a ten mile thrash down to Burley to go under the dual carriaeway & twenty mile thrash back to work. Get to work, pick phone up, jump back on bike, and this happens...

The clutch circlip has jumped out hasn't it, as you can hear it sounds like someone has dumped a canteen of cutlery in a washing machine.

So now I've got around to inspecting the damage, the clutch spider has very slightly come out of shape & the top plate sticky out bits are very slightly mishapen.

Question, is it ok to gently tap the spider back into shape by a couple of mm, thats all it is, then get busy with the file cleaning the top plate up so everything slides nicely into the spider, or should I buy new? (AGAIN!)

Life's never easy is it.

i`d knock spider back into shape and ask my mates who`s got a top plate , if no one has then you may have to by one but only a couple of quid

Yes, possibly not ideal but in your situation that's exactly what I would do. If the clip is damaged I would use a new one and make sure that the gap is contained within one of the tabs on the bell, that's probably why it came out.

Good luck

Use the wider and stronger circlip from AF's.
