The 6V bit should only apply to the lighting circuit and is independent of the ignition side. I think the LT and the pickups interchangeable with the modern equivalents, either pattern or Ducati parts.
Will it run, good question. I think it will spark

"Our dilemma is that we hate change and love it at the same time; what we really want is for things to remain the same but get better."
Yep as you said the 6v refers to the lighting ...just concerned that the CDI may produce a weak spark that will start and idle fine wont pull on the open road .... will let you know how it goes bud ...

Providing you have followed the correct/original stator's example then, yes, it should run OK. However, do note that whilst the parts are interchangeable (LT coil and pickup) the wiring of the LT coil differs between the 12V PX/SIL/BGM/80s AF Ducati and the original 6V stators. If you don't get the LT wiring correct then you will not get a spark unless you swap the colours around at the CDI.
Basically, there are 2 types of LT coil wiring; 12v + modern CDI, 6V with original transducer (period name for the original red CDI). Wire the LT like for like and all will be well but try mixing and it'll not spark. I sent away 2 original 6V stators to a very well respected stator work dealer and got one wired one way and the other stator the other way... FFS!

Adam thanks for the reply ..... it is wired as it should be and the transducer is a red 933 one i also have 2 black 931 transducers i can try if its fails to fire both the plate and the red CDi are untested by me and the LT coil and pickup were replaced by me due to an intermittent spark apparently and very low reading when tested ...My concern is with the Modern LT and pickup and trying to run it through the original transducer .... again thanks for the advice ...

The modern pickup and LT are not a problem and can be run successfully through the original transducers, providing they are installed and wired in the original manner.
