6 volt coil testing.

Apart from actually trying them on an engine, are there any tests that can be done on original type 6 volt ht coils to check if ok? I've got an ohm's meter, or is something else like a megger required?

would think substitution is the quickest way forward- just whack another one on and see what happens.
To be honest, T've never had a 6v coil fail in nearly 50 years of scootering- the problems always were further upstream in the system
