Hi all,

Got a PX full frame with frame number in the normal place (rear rhs of frame) and the scooter has a regestered V5.As im turning it into a cutdown, ive already chopped the rear end and side panels to suit, but what do i do about the vin plate regarding the MOT? Ive kept the stamped section,so can i rivet this to the frame somewhere else?

VIN not required on MOT pre 1999, so either leave off or re attach somewhere else.
I have had a few cutdowns in for test with dog id tags stamped with the VIN details and screwed on through the hole for the loop.
Looks tidy ;)

Vehicle Identification Number
A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN or chassis number) is required on all vehicles first used on or after 1 August 1980. except those which are
. kit cars
. amateur built vehicles

If a VIN cannot be found the vehicle presenter should be advised of the likely location of the VIN and to thoroughly search for the number with the aid of the registration certificate. If following this action the VIN cannot be found the vehicle presenter should contact the nearest Vehicle Registration Office.

5. Check that the vehicle is permanently displaying a legible Vehicle Identification Number (this can either be
. on a VIN plate secured to the vehicle. or
. stamped or etched on the vehicle
body or chassis).

That is correct for cars,
But a scooter is class1 or 2:

"A Vehicle Identification Number is required on all machines first used on or after 1 August 1999, except those which are amateur built."

Also 'secured' to the vehicle can be a sticker, like the french cars have.
So a self tapping screw is also secure.

Not sure how that works :?
But moving the VIN anywhere will be cool for the MOT.
