t5 rear hub oil seal

Hi probably a silly question :oops: but having a blank moment I have a 1985 T5 engine should the rear hub oil seal be the external type. on stripping down im sure its supposed to be external but it has an internal one fitted

As far as i am aware all T5's had the internal seal and the dust thingy where the rear seal used to go on the P range.

Steve the T5 has an internal seal and indeed a dust seal on the outside. But I always fit an oil seal on the outside too. Just a little more peace of mind, and may help oil from getting to the rear shoes. The seal is about a £1 from a bearing dealer.

+1 but you need a rear hub OK with external seal.
Size matters!
