Hi all,having a head scratcher here!

Currently rebulding a mates TX200 EFL engine.He got a new rear hub seal and bearing from Harry Barlow and i fitted the oil seal and drove it home flush with the shoulder no problems.I warmed the casings slightly then drove the double sealed hub bearing in flush down to the oil seal and cant see the circlip groove?!! I managed to tap the casing on some wood and got the bearing out again to measure,
With just oil seal first fitted in casing, the top of the oil seal to the start of the circlip groove is 9mm and the hub bearing diameter is 12.5mm so i will never be able to drive the bearing deep enough to get the circlip in! any ideas whats going on please?!!

Think i may have made a schoolboy error? Does the bearing go into the casing FIRST,then the circlip and oilseal afterwards on the EFL engines? I could have sworn it had the internal oil seal as Its got the metal dust cap on the outside?

the oil seal fits from INSIDE the casing, the bearing on the outside, then the circlip on the outside into the groove. (I like to block the little tell tale hole up, use an outside seal instead of the dust cap, and use a sealed bearing with the inner seal on the bearing removed, the inner oil seal was a backward step IMO by Piaggio)

Thanks lads,i assumed that was the case as theres no way in hell the circlip was lining up.I just thought that the dust caps were fitted only to all the internal type oil seals.

Will try again tonight this way and remove the inner seal on the bearing.

So does the oil seal fit on the INSIDE of the casing or the OUTSIDE of the bearing on the TX? im confused now!

have a look underneath ya casing , if theres a little "tell tale" hole under the casing where the bearing fits, its an internal oil seal, and fits inside the casing, from the gearbox side. if not, as Buzz says, its bearing , circlip, oilseal. post some pictures if you can.
