Flywheel

My Rally engine (non-Femsa) has the old original Ducati flywheel that I assume has been on there since new. Even with a new stator and CDI the spark is a bit wishy-washy.

Has anyone tried the SIP lightened flywheel. Apart from (hopefully) improving the spark, at 1.7Kg, it weighs a bit less than standard too.

I've had one on for a couple of years. It's fine but I can't really make a comparison as it's been so long.

Have you looked at getting your flywheel re-magnetised? If that's not the issue you've done your money but woth investigating.

Do you know anywhere in the south east that does remagnetising?

No I don't but it's worth chasing up, these guys do it for a tenner. http://www.scootopia.co.uk/page/97/Our-Services

that SIP flywheel looks a bit expensive like! see if you can get a px disc leccy start flywheel, take the ring gear off, and send it to Beedspeed to lighten, the last one they did for me cost about a tenner +postage. you should be able to pick a flywheel up cheap enough.

It may be worth buying one of the vintage motorcycle magazines, as there should be someone close by who will do it. Was there not an article in Scootering a few years back on this subject.

For the remagnetising it's worth called Slip stream (motorcycle tuners) in Sevenoaks. I don't think they will do it but they would likely know someone who does, they seem to have a wide circle of expert services they know of.
