I will try ringing them. I also was hoping for some opinions from people using them. Thanks TS1, will try later in the day. I have tried mid morning with no joy.

Hi,
I asked a similar question a while back.
A guy called Shep from wolves replied. He listed his set up. He gets 55 GPS and up to 70 downhill. He has done 5000 miles or so on it.
I haven't started my engine yet but when I do I will probably go for this cylinder, with a reed valve.
The only down question remaining for me is can it be rebored. I never got round to ringing them yet.
I was going to call in at some point with the engine. Plonk it on the counter and ask em to sort it :)

I bought one recently for my 150 Special which currently tops out at 50mph. I haven't fitted it yet but I spoke to Ben at AF before buying. He said it's a 175 bored out to 66mm that can take 2 re-bores. After that I'm not sure if it can be re-lined or even if it's economical to do so. He said I should get 6 to 8k before a re-bore may be needed. The reason I bought it is that I can use my existing clubman and shove a 22mm jetex on it which I have knocking around so it's a reasonably priced upgrade. Obviously not top quality but you get what you pay for. I'm going to upgrade the crank at the same time. Main jet wise, Ben said to start with a 130 and probably go down to a 126. He said it's likely to seize using a 122 or 118 which is the original 200 jet size. It comes with an AF 22mm carb manifold and the ports are cleaned up. I think he said the sloping AF clubman that I have tops out at 7.5k, so I'd expect 60/65mph with standard Pacemaker gearing. Like I said, I've not fitted it yet, so only time will tell.

2 overbore sizes? i was under the impression that 66mm was it? very likely that im wrong ofcourse, but you also have to consider if you do seize and the barrel gets scored, that will limit your chance of overbores. if youre going to run a standard ish set up, ie small carb and clubman, and want a barrel to last for a few rebores, why not go for a 186, as im sure the difference is marginal, and then you have plenty of rebore options. but each to their own, i too like the idea but feel that once it seizes then thats that. But apparently not?

Why not go for a 60mm crank and a l86 kit almost the same cc maybe more torque a 60x110 would be a good crank . I know I harp on about harry barlow but he does some good stuff and has some ideas for modest tuning for standard carbs pipes etc

It may be 64mm... either way he said there is 2 re-bores in it. There's a hundred 'why don't you do this' options out there but you pay your money and take your choice. I've had a 186 from Harry Barlow in the past btw, it was ok but I thought I'd try something different...... it's bit of an experiment.

It sounds good to me.
I have been collecting parts for the rebuild.
I have a 25 mm dellorto and Sil gp crank rebuilt by AF.
I want to use a clubman. I am thinking of getting them to cut the piston for a reed valve. Its to go on a 1960 series 2 eibar li150. Which I am thinking is the same gears as an Italian li150 gearbox. Not worried about top speed too much.
Not sure if the reed valve is overkill I was just thinking it will make it more fue efficient.
