Any difference between the cheap or BGM CDI apart from the name? Opinions and experiences please.

I have one and am very happy with it, £25 isn't that different from standard as far as I can tell. Its in an Avanti for 2 years, I haven't noticed any problems.

Can't comment on the BGM version. But I've had cheap CDi's that are fine. I also had one (of many) from a dealer as part of a 12V kit that packed up within a 1000 miles.

Seen em as cheap as a £10 and up to £25 just made me wonder if different. The only difference ive seen is some have a black earth wire and others are yellow earth.

I've had one BGM CDI go after 17km!
Thankfully it happened after I passed MOT.

My take on this is that until more company's have the b.... To put their name on products its pot luck. I'm sure there are very few manufacturers of these units with a lot of resellers making varied markups. E bay gets a lot of flack but often it's the same part

Second BGM CDI to fail, this time after approximately 200km. Mitsubi on now.

I have yet to have a cdi fail but I was just wondering what happens when it does fail? Does it fail whilst riding or when trying to start the scooter? I'm using a bgm at the moment and all seems fine.
