Li 125 gearbox
Apart from throw it at people I don't like....is there a front rear and sprocket combo I can you use on something like a rapido 200 or 225 with an mb box pipe that will make it useable?
An 18/47 sprocket combination will give you the same top gear ratio as an SX200/TV175 (4.80),the jump from 3rd to 4th is slightly bigger, but this shouldn't be too much of a problem if your engine is on the 'torquey' side!
To be honest, there are much better boxes out there, the idea of running anything tuned (designed to rev higher) would be much better with a gearset with closer spaced ratio's such as the Italian Li150.
On an Li125 the jump from 2nd to 3rd is just over 30% (pretty huge),and the jump from 3rd to 4th is just under 25% (still fairly big),which may cause problems on a hill,as the engine revs away nicely in 3rd,then as you change up,the revs drop and you don't have the power to carry on!

Hmm,got me thinking now.I am just about to remove the gearbox etc.Now will be the time to look into this as i dont really want to pull it all apart again.I have a clutch with 47teeth on it,the rest of it is standard.

If you have the 47 tooth sprocket, you can also consider a GP200 gear box as they are also good in a tuned engine. I have Italian GP200 boxes in my TS1 and Monza, but if anyone knows better, I seem to think that a SIL GP200 gearbox is just as good.
Not a bad choice,the S.I.L GP200 box has a smaller jump between 3rd and 4th.
Italian or Indian GP boxes with 18/47 sprockets give virtually the same top gear ratio as the Italian Li150.
Indian S.I.L gearboxes are about £120.00,(four gears and the cluster)

it depends which li125 box you have ofcourse, but im running my late s3 box with 17 front and all else standard on a tuned 180 barrel with 28 delly and original fresco. think thats around 4.9. havent really noticed an issue with big jumps between gears, but ive never ridden anything else so thats not really good advice!
for me its a money thing, cant warrant paying over 100 quid for a new gearbox just to get tighter ratios, but it depends on how much you want to invest to make it run as best as it can.
With my set up 4th is a little tall, I struggle to find a road long enough to get it to full revs but i think i need to re adress the tune and planning on fitting a slightly lighter flywheel.
on a rapido itll probs pull 4.9 with ease, but still be nice and torquey around town. I would definitely get a pull down tensioner (wish i had!) so you can try 2 different front sprockets on the same chain!
