I can't get the spark plug fully in, the threads aren't too good. The scooter starts but will it run okay and what difference will it make?

is it the threads on the plug or the cylinder head ?

It's not sealed, it will run weak and wreck the barrel and piston, it will spew black oil all over your engine and frame, apart from that it will be ok.

It is meant to seal on the compression washer, you need to sort out why it will not, not too difficult a job and will save you a lot of grief if you do it.

I get what you mean about the compression washer but it's tight so I can't imagine any fuel getting past

if is not right you`ll get caught out by the side of the road.

have you got the head off ?

if its the head that the threads are not to clever then clean them up - get an old plug and put a cut with a hacksaw down the thread (top to bottom) at a bit of an angle - then another on opposite side - this will act as a thread cutter/cleaner - bit of oil or wd40 in and slowly work it in and out to clean/redefine the thread.

its best sorted in the garage !

Spot on exactly what I was thinking Gaz

the longer you leave it the worse it will become.

I ran a Cosworth for years and had it "serviced" once at a so called specialist in Thornbury near Bristol ( "know em back to front mate- safe it our hands"- yeah b@11@x...)

Anyway, they didn't tighten one of the plugs, and when it was next serviced at a Ford Dealership, this was spotted.

Result- head had to come off to free the plug and clean the threads........................

best sort it now IMO.

I presume it's tight because it has been run as is and now the lower threads are full of carbon and s**t.
