im not happy with my temperary mugello 225 set up but need to ride to france on it so was thinking of adding a bit of life with a lightened flywheel.

I think that both setups should be run with same advance. As you can't be sure if both flywheels have the keyholes in exactly same place you should check after swap that timing haven't changed.

You could just dead stop the engine to find TDC with the new flywheel then check your existing marks and adjust the stator position if necessary.... about half an hours work if the scooter is up on a bench....

thanks jims, i was dithering between the two flywheels and had half an hour to spare so was hoping for an easy option but ive spent the day working on the mrs vespa so both scoots are now in the van ready for an mot in the morning.

I would strobe to check, as i changed my sil flywheel for a lightened one i had (sil again) and was well off the timing marks.
