i remember years ago that you could get a type of screw which goes into the clutch lever holder screw hole holding the mirror in place, anyone know about these or anything similar, thanks?

I've just taken a mirror off a scooter that I recently bought, it has a similar looking fixing to that one but fits via the hole (using a longer than standard bolt) that connects the upper and lower headset. Mine was on the RHS.

justin, do you mean that it means drilling a hole in the headset? or fixes below where the bolt meets the headset?

Yes, I'd say it's more or less like the Cam Lam version.

IMO stay well clear of these. I've used them. As soon as you ride the scooter, the wind moves the mirror, so you tighten the bolt a bit more. This goes on until the headset top cracks under the strain!
