It's a big coarse thread on mild steel, so unless it's had some serious abuse or has been cross-threaded a thread file or the correct die should clean up the threads ok.

Mr Runner,
On my sprinter, due to having to take the rear 'non shocker' (its a dural bar btw) off several times, I managed to damage the top mount.
It was too knackered to put a die nut on of the same thread size.
To avoid putting a new pin in, we filed/fettled it a bit and then put a smaller thread die on it - I think its the clutch nut/cluster thread size now.
Nobody will notice (unless its an anorak resto), its safe and works.
Just another idea/solution.
Mr Tucky

drill the nut and put a grub/allen screw inplace .its only to hold the shocker on to the shaft not the forth bridge!

Mr Tucky, dou you know the size of the dye i,ll need for the clutch nut (like the idea of keeping it standard looking)

It's M16 x 1.5. It's a fine thread, not course. As suggested above just clean it up with a die and if it's too far gone, Scooter Restorations sell replacements.
