Hello
The other day I developed a bad oil leak from the rear hub area. Today, I stripped down and low and behold, oil was present on the oil seal and all over the rear hub. I have the rear disk brake set up on mine and its a complete pain in the neck to keep taking this off if the hub oil seal is going to be re-occuring problem, which brings me to my question. The seal was pretty new, I only stripped the engine a few months ago, what could cause a new seal to go? I have a new clutch breather to put on in case the old one is not upto scratch, is there anything else I can check before the seal comes and I put it all back together? When I did the rebuild, I made sure I didnt over fill with gearbox oil (sae30), I put in 250mls
Thanks in advance.

Just check (drain) your gear box oil for a smell of petrol, it may not be your rear hub seal (as you've just replaced it) it maybe your main clutch side oil seal that is allowing petrol through into your gearbox and as this is thinner than gear box oil it will eventually escape through the rear hub oil seal.
Thanks for the replies. Oil was ok, as I changed the crank oil seal at the same time. Replaced now so hopefully will all be ok.
