Any known reasons if a T5 4th wont work on an early P2 box?
The one with the offset cruciform and spacer washer on the selector shaft.

Cheers chaps.
What if one had been fitted, will it be ok to stay in there?
Mate has one in, and is suffering 'lurching' for want of a better word in 4th when warm.
Like the power is being switched on and off, just fitted a clutch for him as he described it as 'slipping'.
Only then did the actual description of fault become freely available

it will never work correctly - early and late cogs are not compatible - they may have the same amount of teeth and mesh but the faces are different so wont mesh correctly/work together

Hi,
Sorry for the delay.
Got mates engine in bits and am looking at the 4th gear but have no comparison.
Is there a list of what gears should be in there, size/type thing.
Like Stickys Lambretta guide but Vespa orientated?
Any tips/pointers welcomed.

I found a gear page on Beedies site,
It lists the P200 as loose gears:
57/42/38/35
I have counted another shaft and gears I have here with the early cruciform, and they match.
The one I have stripped counts up as:
57/42/38/36 and the 4 gears from both boxes look totally different to each other on the face that slides down the shaft.
Is this where the problem lies, as thought a T5 4th in an early box??
Also gearbox with problems has an inner shim on the shaft, spare layshaft and loose gears has no inner shim, just the outer one
