Would you trust it Sean, or strobe it just to check??

If its a genuine piaggio flywheel and stator plate it will be fine without strobing.

I`ve never strobed a vespa and set loads up - never had an issue with timing - caveat to that they have all been genuine piaggio parts

So the Swiss stator and Piaggio flywheel on mine will need a strobe then
I was going to for peace of mind, as I have had numerous bad experiences with Indian electrics :|

I would strobe it then just in case !!

My experience of a SWISS stator is not good - needed a stator in an emergency and the only one availble was a SWISS - I put it on and used the timing marks at IT same as the gen piaggio one I was running. The bike was a bag of sh"+e - wouldn't accelarate or rev clean, missing , speed down and me rev counter was going dolally. Took it off and replaced with a piaggio one that I rebuilt and all good ! Rattled to IOW and back without skipping a beat and rev counter working fine.

Hopefully it was a one off and you'll be okay.

Thought I would update this re: the Swiss stator.
Fitted and strobed and was a little out, adjusted and got it spot on with a timing light.
That was at low revs, as soon as the revs were raised, the marks moved and it was firing almost TDC
Changed CDI and still the same, swapped it for a Piaggio stator and my marks now stay still at all revs.

Odd :?
