hi there after years of always wanting a gs i recently managed to get a s2 160 gs. scoot is not a show model by any means and colour is a bit hard to accept lol. i will hopefully have this for keeps now and eventually get it painted white one day.

i am looking at getting a decent seat for it and have been looking on ebay and sip website for one. i am unsure what the original seat would have been ? the frame i was looking at on sip is on the following link

http://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/produ ... +_39704050

not sure this is the correct frame i have been told original seats had a seat pin to lock down but this frame appears to have some kind of catch. Is this for a 150 gs? description does state both 150 & 160?

thanks for reading

Hi Edd,

I think the SIP seat is a copy of a 1960s accessory seat. It's for a 160 as the fittings for a 150 are different. If memory serves I think Grand Sport have one an original 150 seat for sale,......have a look on their website....it ain't cheap though!

Cheers
Dave

Ps I think you msg' me on eBay re my GS160 that's for sale!

Thats one of the after market seats that were available as an accessory back in the 60's. If you look more closely it does come with the seat posts and so should fit the GS160. The GS150 is completely different, as is the scooter. Nothing on a 150 will fit the 160 except the headset/parts & rear light.
It all depends on what you want to do with your 160, complete restoration, can become expensive. If your happy using remade parts, then there are plenty out there. SIP, Scooter-Centre & Allstyles sell plenty of remade parts. I'm pretty sure you can get remade barrels now and performance shocks from BGM, YSS, Malossi & SIP. Theres also better ignition systems as well.

I can help with the original paint codes and the series 2 production frame numbers I think still started VSB1T, although can't be 100% sure. If you need anymore help I will try and post pictures from the official Vespa Technica book.

thanks Gary, yes i noticed the seat posts after posting. Yes the fame number on mine starts as you state paint codes can wait for the time being although i will eventually try and get back to original? finances allowing lol. yes some of the remade seats look great and will most likely go with one of these. If i intend painting back to white what colour seat would this have came with ? there are a few different options black, grey etc

thanks again

Eddie

Check these guys out, they do very good restorations and usually to original spec. GS160 rims are unique with a 60/40% split as to the usual 70/30.
