Hi guys,

Can anyone please advise on where the probe for a EGT gauge goes on my exhaust (JL3) - where is the recommended position for me to weld the nut?

Many thanks in advance!

Doesn't it tell you in the clues?

I'm pretty sure mine is 4" from the piston.

It doesn't, it has a picture of where it should go, I think the picture is off a car exhaust, the distance is not clear. You mention 4" from the piston, I have heard this before. Have you welded yours on?

JL RHS.

The metal bit to screw into is generic though. That came with the gauge.

I am going to have a go with 4" from the piston, I am hoping to get the scoot to the dyno in October. Hopefully the dyno operator will be able to advise on safe running temperatures for me. What sort of temps does your run at?

4" from the piston skirt is correct and the tip needs to be inserted into the middle of the exhaust stream. Mine's fitted to a JL3 and I positioned it to the rear of the pipe reasoning that it would be a bit protected from flying stones.

What make of probe is that MM?
