I currently have a RT240 reed valved with a 30mm carb and BGM big box.
Want to try a different pipe but can't choose between a Fran race or a supertourer.
I've read that many avanti kitted engine had great benefits by using a race pipe and loosing some bottom end wasn't an issue like other with the supertourer.
My exhaust timing is at 175° and i'm leaning towards the race.....

Can I throw the NK race into the mix? Great pipe and best bang for your buck pipe out there IMHO. Fitted one to my Imola after several different pipe choices and it's transformed it. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Franspeed pipes it's just my preference.

I've ran a Franspeed Tour (not the Supertourer) and a Franspeed race on my Avanti. These are both good pipes with different attributes.
I found the Tour a better all round exhaust and the Race better for the motorways. Top speed is no different but from 55mph onwards the Race pulls away, making overtaking on motorways "fun".....but low down it struggles to find the power band and your constantly up and down through the gear box.
I'm keeping the Race as i only use the scoot for rallies, if it was for work and local jaunts (or if you live in the hills !!) then the Tour would be a better choice.

Mick on which engine configuration did you tried the pipes?
I'll use my RT for everything (touring, motorways) except into town.

Ive had all 3 on my rb, race, tourer & now I use the super tourer. It depends on how u like to ride your scooter. The race has not a lot low down and doesnt start to work until around 5500 revs, the tourer gives a lovely smooth ride but it lacks power up top and finishes off around 7000 revs but comes in earlier. The supertourer comes in low and stays on for much longer I use that and its lovely. Its up to u and how ur engine performs as well.

^... yep, all down to how you want to ride and where you want your power to be. I would have taken the Supertour off my Avanti if I hadn't greatly improved the low rev power by fitting an Agusto unit, with static ignition I completely hated it compared to my JL3.

I need power between 4500-7000 rpm so i think the supertiurer should be better.
i've have a kytronic add-on so could set the timing well.
My final ratio os 4,7 (cyclone). My only issue was which pipe was better at low-mid revs....think that supertourer is the answer
