hi,rebuilding a series 2 li 150 engine casing to gp 150 spec, when I fit the barrel theres a gap of about 1mm between the barrel and the casing even with a thick base gasket, anyone came across this? and what do I need to for a good fit?

Try fitting the barrel to the casing with no studs or piston fitted. If it doesn't seat home then the spigot on the barrel or mouth of the casing is likely to be warped.

What cylinder studs are you using? This is a typical problem that occurs when using 'fat' cylinder studs, which limit the barrel's ability to align and seat correctly. Do note that there are some barrels around with stud holes somewhat out of alignment too.

If you are using aftermarket 'fat' studs then try removing them and seeing if the barrel goes onto the casing OK without the studs. If this proves to be the case then try assembling with original rolled studs and see if the problem goes away.

Best if luck

Check the barrel spigot isnt touching the mag flange near the transfer port

Erm sorry should have been a bit clearer   what I meant was , the studs sometimes come through the barrel onto the spigot studs when tightened, I had one barrel where this happened so had to slacken the exhaust stud before it went onto the spigot freely..... 8-)

^... yep, that's an issue I've experienced too, as well as the spigot catching on the mag profile too, so all good advice :)

^... I've had very, very few non factory barrels that have not fitted to a standard case with standard studs. I guess that everyone's experience is different though.
