I'm not too familiar with this particular carb, but most of these tubes are overflows from the float bowl (even if they emanate from higher up the carb body) . The idea is to take the fuel away to a point where it can be drained away safely. They are not always ideal for scooters, but are often good on motorcycle engines.

there are 4 small "hose" connection points on the vhsa/b

1. brass colour - comes out of the float bowl - cut this off flush with bowl and leave it

2. brass colour - on RH side of carb (viewed from front) comes straight out - this is a oil connection (I think) but it needs blanking off - usually the carb comes with a black rubber cover/grommet but it is best to solder the end up

3. Ali angled on left hand side - this is an over flow don't blank it put a hose on it which is long enough to get any overflowing petrol out of the way

4. as above on right hand side

Thats how my 2 are set up

Good luck

Thanks for your help, at the moment, there are three hoses fitted, all pointing downwards.
I take it that if I do as Gaz says, I should leave the hoses on number 3 &4, pointing upwards and long enough to contain any overflow without spillage onto the exhaust.
Dont fancy ripping the hoses off because of any spillage issues.
@Knowledge, the carbs off an Aprilia, it is however already written into the scooters papers and its easier to work with it than changing the papers. (German registered, Tüv test).
It also fits to the style of my scoot, 80s style full blown custom. Your on LCGB,pics are / where on show your ride under Legio X

Im not sure I agree, have to try it out first. Im pretty sure the petrol will go up a hose if the carb overflows as its got to go somewhere.

Mine came with 2x hoses which were sufficient length to loop down behind the exhaust - any overflow then discharges straight to ground.

When I first built the TS1 using a VHSB as soon as I turned the petrol on it p*ssed out the overflows - so they worked a treat - turned out the float was sticking open - float must have got knocked when I stripped it to re jet.

I had them on my amal years ago (they had a lovely little guide which fitted under the float bowl bolts to loop the pipe down) and I have them on pwk

My personal opinion is have them in place
