Hope I've posted the pics right. Had the Conrod snap & go right through my avanti kit, taking out the barrel, piston & engine case, is there any way the engine case is salvageable. Would need extensive welding, probably, & would it be cost effective?
Don't really want to shell out for a new casing, barrel & piston if poss.
Cheers

not sure about the answer to your question but would be interested to know what crank it was?

Looks like a standard SIL rod.

It's quite old, thought it was a jap rod but I actually think it's scooter restorations sil crank with jap bearing. Think it was caused by the woodruff key shearing and the flywheel nut coming off, don't know in which order but don't think that could of helped.

I very nearly made that mistake tbh, I ran the avanti with SIL crank with jap bearing wrongly thinking it would be up to it, it's now SIL webs and jap con rod, hope you get it sorted.

If you take the time to look at this thread:

This case was fixed by the owner and is still going strong today.
Might be worth a chat with him.

Shaun.

Cheers, I'll have a look, just wondered if it would be cost effective thinking about the work involved?

That depends on the reasons for keeping the case.
My mates in the link was a matching numbers for a Spanish 200 fully restored.
Without the case the value and deisre to own it would be knocked down a lot.

If it was just an Indian 200, replacement would be cheaper and easier.

Shaun.

Maybe 'just' Spanish but the case and frame are usually matched and that adds value in most peoples book, especially if you have a soft spot for that line.
