Problems adjusting a Vespa Rally200 clutch

Took a fairly new and fully working clutch assembly out of my P200 engine and put it into a Rally200 engine, including the spacer before I put the clutch on.

However, when I came to adjust the clutch, I had to keep pushing the clutch arm against the springs of the clutch, to a point where the nipple was set around a further 30mm up the cable from the initial compression point.

I’m now at the position where the clutch is still grabbing in first gear. But if I use the fine adjuster, a few turns out, I’ve gone too far and the kickstart does not engage.

Any clues as to what I may have cocked up, as I’m still a Vespa virgin

Hello Paul

Have a look on the VCb forum. There is a great run down on clutches .

Hope this helps :D

I wonder would it be an idea to try the clutch cover from the p200 engine and give it a go on the rally one? If it works you'll know its a problem with the rally cover.

Thanks for the input. I forgot all about the VCB Forum, so will have a look there. Will also try P200 clutch cover as well. On reflection, the P200 clutch had not been used for over a year, so one thought is that the plates may be stuck together. So once the cover is off, I'll take out the clutch and strip it down, just to eliminate the above.

Thanks

Paul
