Advertised as a race crank best served on TS1 and RB engines, the said crank from PM Tuning failed after circa 20 miles.....slicing through the casings, kit and reed block.

PM upgraded the crank to the 116mm rod version after I contacted them, the rest of the cost was met by myself and the customer.

Steer clear of any Tameni made cranks with 107 rods!

It's also a problem with the MEC Vespa P200 cranks too (mate's Rally engine sliced in half), and the old black-webbed Lambretta race cranks, both of which used to be great. Something up with Tameni's rod quality now, don't know why but it's not good news.

Sticky, you have any more info on what batches or time frames this might apply to? i.e.-Mr Scooter rider should be too alarmed if his crank is over xx-months old, but anything purchased after 201? may be suspect etc?

Any what brands of crank Tameni make other than PM Tuning and new MEC?

I think they do 80% of the cranks world wide, when I was emailing around looking for a 62mm crank all that was on offer was Italian, bgm only went up to 60mm,so I got Af webs off Darrell taylor sent them to mark broadhurst to put together using his own pin and rod,
if your going to buy a Italian crank go to af there the cheapest, dont fall for the flash names like alpha/corsa/harry barlows there all temeni/recambi/evergreen.
if you want a 58 /60mm go bgm mbd have them in stock

For 58mm cranks, I have yet to come across a better crank than the SIL webs with Yam rod 110/115. The interference fit on some of the SIL webs is quite astonishing. I'm looking forward very much to Rich Taylor's new cranks, which use these webs as a basis to make a full circle/balanced crank. I think he is bang on the money with these. Makes the BGM 58mm look very poor value for money.

Never liked the AF 58/107 or 60/107 'race' cranks. Amongst other things, pin fit was very poor, even welding didn't help much.

For 62 I would also use AF Italian webs, I like them a lot, with choice of 110/115/116 rod....depending what I'm building.

Thanks for the info as I was considering one of these very same cranks, having identified it as good VFM. I already have one (unused) of the PM 62mm cranks with 116mm rod, but that rod is the machined silver coloured rods, which I hope will not suffer the same sort of failure as the different spec 107 rod pictured.

Having had the back of the big end break away on a MEC race 58mm a couple of years ago, which again punched a hole straight through my otherwise perfect 200 casing (!), so I don't really want to go down that street again.

I've returned to SIL webs on my last couple of motor builds and am still struggling to find better webs (forget standard SIL bearings though... noting that I don't want to hear from the few people that have put decent mileage on standard SIL bearings... you are the odd ones out!). To this end I agree that Richard Taylor is onto a good thing with his full circle HPC cranks, which I've already enquired about but am waiting for to become available (hurry up Rich!).

Cranks can be very frustrating at times!

ive found the tameni cranks to be excellent ran them in my race group 6 but after a few meetings had the silver af/pm 116 style rod fail but also know that meeting it was overrevved and downshifted which kills rods and still have lots of guys running the cranks in high horsepower motors a few years down the line without issue ,there are some i avoid that are sold that have the gold 107 conrod with the very small cross section below the small end eye fitted to whats known as the black mec eur cranks and the pm one that dan had go and always the same one on many pictures you see floating around of failed rods ,also seen a few top racing and bgm version weighted cranks of late with drifting balance weights causing major fails ,so i try to stick to 1 piece tameni webs60 62 64 there tight on the pin and well proven in race and sprint motors and jap rods/mx rods to suit 110 115 118 120 125 16 and 18 pin
