Skint at mo to get new wassell and battery.
I still have the old regulator so wondered what i need to do with the wires to convert to AC to get some lights now the daylight is going.

Simply connect one of the yellows to earth and the other to the regulator then the feed out of the reg to the loom.

You'll also need to change the horn.

The loom feed i guess will be the wire i have the batt+ connected to aswell?

Yes, disconnect the wire to the battery and tape it or remove the fuse if it has one.

Still not getting any lights.....

Does the following sound right?

Wassell still earthed, red and 2 yellows disconnected and taped up.
Batt+ disconnected and taped up.

3 pin AC reg-
Brown (wire with the batt+ connected to it) going to 1st hole.
Yellow from stator going to 2nd hole.
3rd hole blank...
1 wire to earth in the 4th hole.
5th hole blank....

The black from stator (that was going wassell yellow) to earth.

Did you connect the other yellow wire to earth? it won't work unless you do ;)

Either one will do, they are just wires on the opposite ends of the series of lighting coils, one MUST be connected to earth and the other goes into the regulator.

It's usual to have 2 x yellows, 1 red, 1 green, 1 white from the stator on a Wassell type conversion.

The yellows come from each end of the four lighting coils. These are connected to the two yellows on the rectifier. The black usually goes to earth and the red to the battery / loom.

For a vespa type regulator you connect one yellow to the regulator and the other to earth. The feed out of the regulator should go to the loom. Effectively you cross connect all the loom wires to this feed.

I think from your description you may have a yellow and a black coming from the lighting coils - is this correct?

On the regulator a batt+ is usually a trickle feed to charge a battery, can you post a pic of your reg? That might help?

If you have a multimeter check that you have continuity between the black and yellow.

Where did the brown you mentioned come from?
