[quot e="dennis"]Is that a non return valve?,can't see how that works if it is.[/quote]

It allows the air and fluid to pass through the valve but when you release the lever it doesn't allow air back into the system.

I've just done the linked brakes on an X9 this way, a pain as there are 3 calipers and a bypass valve but it works.

I have to bleed a brake on my Nexus last week and I tried everything from operating the lever to sucking (Mitivac) and a syringe. No progress.

Finally, I tried opening the bottom nipple (with a hose attached) and really pumping the lever fast. This really moved the bubbles (at last) and all was good with the world.

after the bleed nipple, in the middle of the piece of pipe you attach to the nipple.

Right i'm with you now, how we used to bleed brakes in the old days, they used to make bleed nipples with spring non return valves, put some on my 1600e cortina,if only.
