Gear shift woes

Hi all.I have just replaced the very worn linkeages that sit ontop of the gear box,and now I cannot get the Scoot to stay in first gear.I have tried everything,adjusted as per all the mannuals,it just wont stay in gear unless I hold it in.Any ideas?

I was afraid someone would say that.Cant believe it was perfectly fine (apart from all the slop) before I changed everything

Is the gear swivel post on the wrong way around so that the top element hits the body (2 bolts that hold it in place) and limits its travel?

Adam,just been out to garage to check that and it's fine.But what I did do was disconnect the new flat bar that connects the selector arm on the gearbox to the thing that is attached to the cables.What I found was the bar is binding with the bit at the cable end,thus limiting travel.I have to go out now,but when I get back I will have a good look and post some pics.I am sure this is the problem.

This is the problem.As you can see,the new one on the left is limited in its ability to move over to the right.

Its difficult to see,but the slot in the new part isn't as deep as the old one.Crap parts again.

It is annoying, I had issues with a cheap ebay selector fork which needed a LOT of grinding to allow it to rotate without fouling and 2 selector lugs that needed a fair bit of filing to slide in the selector. That said, it is the best gear change I've ever had, virtually no play
