Casa Conundrum

I'm almost reluctant to post this, because nobody seems to believe me or take this particular problem seriously. I've got a Casa 185 kit fitted and when it goes it goes. The trouble is sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. The most visible manifestation of the problem is that it won't draw fuel. As you go further and further the level of fuel in the pipe gets lower and lower until it becomes starved of fuel. I know what you're saying. It sounds like an airlock of some kind, and that's what it looks like. But believe me I have tried every permutation I can think of without success. I've tried different petrol tanks, carburettors, petrol taps, you name it. Everything is tight. It just abstains from partaking of the old petroleum. I don't know what else could cause these symptoms. So if anybody out there has any ideas I'm all ears.
Set up as follows....
Casa 185 kit
22mm carb, 48 pilot 5899.2 atomiser and 125 main jet
Standard exhaust
Help......

Are you using the same petrol cap or differing ones when you change the tank ?

What he said Neville.
Sounds like you haven't got a vent to let air in to replace the petrol you are sucking out.

I'd thought of that. Changed it, I think. Run it stationary without the petrol cap. Still doesn't work.

I take it that you have tried just letting the fuel from the tank directly and alls well, and have you looked at the air vents on the carb ...right at the front, I remember having the similar issue with one of my old scoots and it turned out a blockage on the front causing a vacuum and NOT allowing fuel into the bowl hope this helps........

I don't quite understand what you mean by letting the fuel direct from the tank Trojan? I could have a look at the vents in the carb. I hadn't thought of that. Causing a vacuum sounds interesting. And yes, Mr Mod, it is a Jetex at the moment. A new one I left on because I got fed up with chopping and changing all the time. It did the same with my original Dell'orto as well. Of course the old one could be gummed up and the Jetex poorly machined. I'll have to investigate.

I think by letting, he means just letting the fuel flow into a container or bowl to make sure it keeps flowing.
